As Monday was the night for the Girls Varsity Soccer Team, Wednesday was the night for the Boys as they hosted Brookside for the final regular season home games for Conner Kelly, Adam Nemeth, Ryan Starks, Levi Stonerock, and John Zupan. To give the Seniors one last hurrah in a win versus the Cardinals, Fairview was going to need to come unleashed early and not start off slow; that’s what happened Wednesday night for the Warriors.
One minute into the game, Fairview struck first with a strike from Jr. Mauricio Huerta (Just you wait, there is more of Mauricio). More Huerta came, as after a two minute exchange of possessions, Huerta put in another goal for Fairview. After five action-packed minutes to start, the game began to ease, where goalies exchanged many saves; FHS Jr. Dom Donofrio played an exceptional game in the net.
*Insert Spongebob transition here* 50 minutes later…
The Fairview offense works their way up the field, only to be stopped by Brookside. But fresh legs from Fairview midfielder Jr. Tyler Gut played a key role in the Fairview attack up 2-0 looking to put the game away for good against the Cardinals, as Jr. Felipe Medina openly passed to Gut who ran his way down the field. Gut one-timed the pass and into the mid-section of the goal’s right corner for a goal.
That would be the last scoring opportunity for both teams, as Fairview advanced to 8-0 in the Patriot Athletic Conference with a 3-0 win over Brookside. The 2018 PAC Champions will face their toughest test this Saturday, October 6 versus the #1 ranked team in the state of Ohio: Bay Village.
