Working hard despite the extreme heat and humidity , the Fairview Warriors beat the Columbia Raiders 4-1in a PAC conference clash. Freshman Mark Langdon got the Warriors on the board with his first varsity goal, powering the ball into the goal after a great cross in front of the goal by Junior Connor Kelly. Kelly once again provided a super cross to Sophomore Phillipe Medina who scored a second goal for the Warriors with about 4:00 minutes left in the first half. A second great shot by Medina put the Warriors up at a 3-0 lead for the first half.
The Warriors defense, including Junior Ryan Starks, Senior Ian Broadbent, Senior Nick Donofrio, and Sophomore Max Meaney maintained a tough line, keeping the ball at the Raiders goal for the majority of the second half. A lead ball provided to a Raiders forward and a shot that slipped behind The Warriors goalie gave the Raiders one point on the board with about 19 minutes left in the game. Just as the final countdown began, Junior Adam Nemeth stole the ball from a Raiders player, and drove it straight down the field for a final score of Warriors 4- Raiders 1.
The Warriors are now leading the PAC conference Stripes division 5-0. The next matchup will take place Wednesday 9/27 at Brookside at 7:00 pm. Go Warriors!
